From a patient…
I have been a client of Dr. Clare Frank for nine years. I see her on a regular
basis for wellness physical therapy. My sessions with Clare make it possible
for me to continue all my activities, even though I have arthritis and myopathy
(progressive muscle weakness). I am in my early 70’s, may be a little
slower and using a cane, but I am still very active. Most importantly, I can do
this without pain medication.
I have learned much from Clare about muscles, joints, the brain and pain. All this while she works on my muscles and joints to make them function as normally as possible. Her wealth of knowledge about physical therapy and its practical application to individual cases seems infinite. No two sessions are the same — she consistently has to use a variety of methods to get my muscles to work properly. She is able to do this because she profoundly understands the foundational concepts of the brain-pain-movement relationship, and then builds on these concepts with extraordinary skill, creativity and down-to-earth explanations.
Finally, Dr. Clare Frank is the epitome of professionalism, but a professionalism coupled with compassion, understanding, and kindness. She intuitively seems to understand how a client is feeling, and is therefore able to give that person realistic hope, encouragement and reassurance. I can’t thank her enough for all she has done for me. — Marcella Saunders

What does the session entail?
From a movement system perspective, I will be looking at your body as a
WHOLE, to understand how one component may affect the other, like a
“domino” or a “ripple” effect. For example, your neck pain may be caused by
an overloading of your chest muscles stemming from impaired breathing
and/or postural adaptations. Treatment will be focused on the “key” impairments
that led to your dysfunction or impaired performance, but most importantly,
to help “re-wire” or recalibrate your brain for optimal body-mind
health.
In addition, you will receive a home exercise program to reinforce the clinical treatment. One of my primary goals is to help educate, inspire and empower you to take charge of your symptoms so you can get back to doing the things that you want to do.
For the higher functioning client or athlete, the movement system evaluation and treatment seek to address the “weak links” to improve your performance and minimize risk for injury.

From a colleague…
When I had the pleasure of meeting Clare and hear her
lecturing for the first time, I noticed how meticulously
thoughtful she was in her interactions with everyone. She
just “knew” how to say/cue/teach/interact in a way that
made sense. Her intuitive ability to see an individual’s potential
and magnify it, whether through learning or movement,
definitely came from her passion to empower
others. When I left that lecture, I was so inspired to learn
more and be better at what I do. — Josh J. Lee, PT, DPT
